Doesn't the destruction or severe decline of the human race concern you?

I'm not sure what your point is. Why *should* we take extraordinary measures to prevent some unknown and unknowable future catastrophe? We don't have any idea what the future holds - people should worry about the real and obvious problems or potential problems we have now, and let the future take care of itself until we get there.
