Money wasn't a factor in any of the man citys new boys signing for them?

I take it that this question is very much tongue in cheek. Gareth Barry who I once admired said he wanted to leave Villa to ensure he would be playing for a team in the European cup. He did not get his move to Liverpool and instead joins Man City who will not be playing in Europe at all this season.He changed his story and said he was getting stale at Villa. I do not understand this as since O'Neil became manager the Villa have made steady progress and have a good young side which can only get better with a couple of inspired signings (I am not sure Downing is one of these but we will see). Barry has also said that Man City's recent signings proves he was right to leave Villa. With City signing players for the sake of it and not improving the defence there is no guarantee that they will be any better than last season. The players are joining City for the money and nothing else.
