How good is law at Columbia university (for a British student)?

After I've completed a 2 year LLB at a university in England (Kings), some students are given the opportunity to study for a JD at Columbia. I'm really interested in American law - what's the teaching like there? And will it set me up to possibly practice law in America? My English LLB will allow me to go into law in the UK, but I'd like the option of working in America.
