Instead of a volume control, do Christian preachers have a scare factor control?

You know, in times of war and the panic following a natural disaster, most people are more receptive to what they ume is the word of God and the preachers can speak in soft words in a soft voice and have complete control. But when people are relaxed and have a few minutes to think about what they are being told, the word of God sounds like the nonsensical ramblings of a madman. So the preacher’s solution is to turn up the scare factor and throw in a few keywords with dark connotations like hellfire, Armageddon, rapture, Satan, evil, sin etc.
