Good idea for Irish crime novel?

Watch Billy Connelly videos and take out the humour (if you can) and follow through some of his more poignant points into a darker realm.the scottish and irish are not dissimilar and i dare say no more! I really would do this, and read Edgar Allan Poe.hmmmmm :-D
